Phlebotomy technicians are critical team members in hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, and blood donor centers. As new types of tests are developed and laboratory tech positions grow, it's a fascinating time to begin a career in this thriving field.

12 week Course (Online + Lab Practice '40 blood draws from Mannequin & Human')
The Phlebotomy Technician training includes these topics below:

  • Principles of proper phlebotomy technique
  • Specimen processing
  • Point-of-care testing
  • Compassionate patient care
  • Maintenance and use of equipment
  • Record keeping and documentation
  • Basic principles of anatomy and physiology
  • Disease process
  • Therapeutic communication
  • Hazardous materials management
  • Patient assessment.
  • Order of draw
  • Pre-analytical variables
  • How to locate veins/troubleshoot hard-to-find veins
  • Phlebotomy Scope of Practice

*Students will take the Certification Exam (NHA, CPT) after completing the course. 


Requirement

  • Must be 16 years or older
  • State-issued ID card from any State, Passport, Green card or Driver’s License
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduating from high school or a GED program within 12 months 
  • No Immunizations or vaccinations are required
  • Uniforms/Scrubs required (Lavender color). Students should wear closed-toe and closed-heel shoes.
  • AHA BLS (CPR) Certificate (before completing the course)

 

Phlebotomy Skill Schedule

Students will practice their skills until they complete '40 successful blood draws' from a mannequin. 

*After completing 40 blood draw practices and obtaining insurance coverage (Student Malpractice Insurance), you can practice blood draws on each other (No charge for Insurance). Please consult with the instructor when you come in for practice.

How to apply?

  1. Please fill out the 'application form' with the correct information.
  2.  Send a copy of your high school diploma in English to admin@dmscaretraining.com.
  3. When sending an email, please be sure to include in the subject line your name, the class you wish to take, and a brief description. (Example: Christine Son, Phlebotomy Course, High school diploma)
  4. You can purchase the course and start studying. When paying for the class and creating an account, please use the 'student's own email address and name'.
  5. Once you pay for the course, you can immediately access the basic lectures provided by the school. Three days after payment, you will receive an email from NHA to gain access. You need to create an account there, and then you can start taking the main courses provided by NHA.
