Patient Care Technician / PCT / PCA Certificate Course (NHA CPCT/A)
Doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals rely on patient care technicians to assist with the critical day-to-day care some patients require. These professionals provide hands-on support that impacts the comfort and safety of patients and their families.
Program Goal
To prepare students to take the Certified Patient Care Technician / Assistant (CPCT/A) exam through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) and gain entry-level employment as a PCA/PCT.
Program Length
- Duration: 4 months (self-paced)
- School Lab Practice: 40 hours
- Clinical Externship: 40 hours at a Carrollton-based healthcare facility
Tuition
- Tuition includes supply fees, a textbook and clinical lab costs
- Payment accepted by Cash, Credit/Debit Card, PayPal, Zelle (admin@dmscaretraining.com), or Check
- Payment plans available (split into two or three installments)
- No federal financial aid (non-Title IV school)
- AHA BLS (CPR) certificate course is not included
What You’ll Learn
- Provide basic patient care – bathing, feeding, catheter care
- Assist with supplies, cleanliness, and patient mobility
- Take and monitor vital signs
- Perform EKG readings and phlebotomy procedures
- Offer emotional support for patients and families
- Assist with end-of-life care and grief support
Program Requirements
- Must be 17 years or older
- Valid ID (State-issued, Passport, Green Card, or Driver’s License)
- High School Diploma, GED, or graduation within 12 months
- Immunizations required for clinicals
- Scrubs and closed-toe/heel shoes for lab sessions
- AHA BLS (CPR) Certificate required before graduation
Skill Lab Practice
- Program is self-paced — start anytime
- Complete 4days of hands-on training with CNA (Basic nursing skills) and MA (injections, phlebotomy, and EKG)
- Schedule coordinated individually based on student availability
Externship Arrangement
In the 4th month of the program, students will complete a 40-hour externship at a partnered healthcare facility in Carrollton, TX. Students will coordinate their schedule directly with the instructor.
